However, as the first paragraph shows, a paragraph, which took me about 20 minutes to type in the form you see above and another 40 minutes to enter in a more legible format below, I would be grateful for any suggestions that might help me continue to recover some of my writing faculties.
Edited Para 1: 5 years ago I was diagnosed with peripheral nerve sheath sarcoma which caused the amputation of my left arm. I had several strokes and chemo caused seizures. During one of the subsequent surgeries on my liver I went into cardiac arrest eventually leading to installation of a pacemaker. In late 2008 I was diagnosed with squamous cell cancer and treated with about three months of radiation and chemotherapy. I am still suffering side effects from the treatment, especially skin rash and neural pain. Initial prognosis gave me six months to live, I am still here 5 years later and still going.
For forty years I made my living putting words to paper as a business researcher and it is extremely frustrating to take almost an hour to write a 9 line paragraph.
I don't have much to spend on software or gadgets, and the form of aphasia I have doesn't work well will the "Naturally Speaking" type software because I tend to confuse opposites north=south, up=down etc.
On the other hand, I'm just glad to be able to communicate at all.
