Welcome to the Wednesday evening pootie and woozle diary!
Our regular diarist, it really is that important, is traveling to be with her betrothed for the weekend and asked me to fill in for her here this evening.
For those of you who did not already know, it really is that important met fellow Kossack, trs, here in Daily Kos. Can you believe it? They somehow avoided the all too familiar Kossack quagmire of "WTF?--where’s your source--provide a link--that’s a strawman!--I want a talking pony" and they were able to find each other. One day their eyes met across a crowded pootie diary and they fell deeply in love. They are to be married this summer and trs will be moving across the country to start a whole new life with it really is important and her daughter.
Although commitment like that makes me really really nervous, I have always admired people who follow their heart. As I was thinking about this the other day, I thought about the poetry and songs that describe the sort of love that inspires people to take incredible chances. I have linked one of my favorite songs by Van Morrison below - and although it is often played at weddings, for me it doesn’t necessarily have to be about romantic love. It’s the song that always pops into my head whenever I walk through the animal shelter where I work every weekend, as I look into each dog enclosure and cat cage.
Click here and turn up your speakers (after you click, just wait a minute and the song will start to play) for Someone Like You:

So, let’s celebrate L-O-V-E in tonight’s diary – whether it’s the romantic love between two consenting adults, the love a parent has for a child (and vice versa), the love we have for our 4-legged family members, or the love our 4-legged companions have for cheeseburgers.
But first, A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: Today, Dusty in ME is celebrating his sweet sixteenth birthday! Please join me in wishing beautiful Dusty the happiest of birthdays and many many more. (And I trust that Bill in Portland Maine has already blessed Dusty’s camels. I would do it myself but I don't have the required certification for that.)
This one isn't really about love, but I fell in love with it when I found it:
