A blog that justdanny of
LGF (definitely a right wing blog) says tries "to tell the truth about radical Islam" has been removed from Google News because of hate speech. The letter, according to a post at
The Jawa Report, said the following:
Hi Rusty,
Upon recent review, we've found that your site contains hate speech, and we will no longer be including it in Google News. If you can guarantee that your news no longer includes hate speech, we will be happy to re-review the site for inclusion.
Regards,
The Google Team
I don't read LGF often, the rhetoric there is well known for being over the top. I've never read The Jawa Report, though I've heard of it. Not much of a point from me here except to raise the issue of hate speech, Google News policies, and possibly hear from any of you that might be familiar with The Jawa Report and if you think it is guilty as charged.
How I came on this. I write some pieces that look for spin in political language and remove it. The idea of the cabal to do this from left and right is, for me, the idea that we don't want to just win debates. We need good healthy debate, honor in debate, in order to actually think through issues. We need a wide variety of perspectives and if you win a debate too quickly, say by use of manipulative and false rhetoric, then you don't really win, because the idea that came out of the debate was half-baked.
So I figured I'd look at LGF for some easy examples to analyze and found this. Wasn't what I was looking for... but the reason I thought daily kos might want to see this (besides the interesting hate speech angle, the fact that Google doesn't get specific, angles) is one user at LGF has generated by script a list of news sources returned by Google News.
Here is the list, it looks to be dynamically generated but I'm not vouching for it, caveat emptor.
