Why is this meltdown being called a recession?
I do not see it as a recesssion.
When banks fail and people are broke and soup kitchens
are set up and unemployment is sky high, how is that
a recession?
Trust me, it is depressing out there and therefore
I say I don't buy the numbers of unemployment.
I think they are higher and it has lasted deeper and
longer than any recession I can recall.
I am tired of words that mean nothing. Depression !!!
When Hoover sunk this country in the twenties and thirties,
the people calleed it what it was.
Why in the name of all that is decent would any person
vote for a republican? History has shown that they collapse economies, are selfish, self centered and don't have any answers for main street America.
My mother used to say, "We are not rich enough to be republicans". I never knew just what that meant until I
got older and saw the self serving mean in people.
Now, I think the democratic party today, is a version of the
old republican party in so many ways.
I don't know what America will look like in another 10 years but I do know I don't recognize it now.
As far as depression, recession,....somebody needs to tell
some family members who got evicted, lost their jobs and trying to feed a family of 4 with no help how we just had an economic downturn.
Someone needs to tell my 41 year old son, who pulled his own tooth, that his small business he had that failed was just
an economic meltdown. Tell all the people who camped out in Queens for a job application that things are getting better because it is depending upon if you ate last night, if you had a job to go to today and if you are barely making it, whether or not you call it a recession or depression.
I think FDR would call this a Great Depression. I can't channel him but my bet is that is what he would call it.
We didn't call Vietnam a war but a police action until it
was over and will never be done with for the combat soldier.
So did we have a police action or a war? Is this a recession or a depression?
I guess it doesn't matter in the end because when you are
dead, you are dead and when you are broke you are broke.
I just think people need to stand up and tell those so called economists, hey the downturn since the depression is
not working upwards in my neighborhood. It is because we are in a REAL DEPRESSION and it is not politically
smart to call it what it really is. Do they think we are that stupid? I do not believe those unemployment numbers. I believe people quit looking. I know many who are not recorded anywhere and do not get unemployment checks.
If this is not a full blown depression then please tell me the difference between now and what happened in 1929?
At least tell me the difference between a meltdown and a depression?
I think one of the most telling things, is the length of the jobless in America. I also think President Obama needs to forget about the socialist tag and put together a WPA of sorts.
