We have an idiot as an attorney general here in Alabama.
His name is Troy King and he is your typical Alabama Republican, which means his head is stuck up his ass.
It would take several pages to chronicle the hot water he has gotten himself into over various ethical lapses since he replaced that other noted AG, Bill Pryor, just a few years ago.
But this time he has outdone himself with regard to the oil slick that is likely to find its way to Alabama's beaches before long.
Troy King has taken it upon himself to advise those who have been harmed by the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico not to file lawsuits yet.
"This is not a time for class-action lawsuits and profit taking," he said in a statement. "This is a time of preparedness and prayer."
Yep. We should all just pray.
Not surprisingly, nobody is listening to Mr. King.
As of Friday afternoon, 10 separate class-action suits had been filed in Mobile's federal court, alone, against BP Plc and other companies involved with the Deepwater Horizon.
Perhaps someone should point out to Mr. King that we have lots of people to lead us in prayer over such things. They are called ministers and priests and rabbis. But we only have one chief law enforcement official in the state and we sort of, kind of expect him to lead the way when it comes to holding corporate bad guys accountable.
Memo to Troy King: Sue the bastards!
