Rachel gave the commencement address at Smith College. One of the commenters at her website, had this to say about the speech.

Rachel's ability to distill critical theory into narrative is something that I admire and hope to emulate. All that and not one mention of the word neo-liberal. Hah! A great speech and one very different from the one I got at commencement. I think her glory will be being one of the great communicators of our time.
A few lines from her speech from her website
"Some dreams are bad dreams. . . . Hopefully life is long. Do stuff you will enjoy thinking about and telling stories about for many years to come. Do stuff you will want to brag about."
And this:
"Gunning not just for personal triumph for yourself but for durable achievement to be proud of for life is the difference between winning things and leadership. It is the difference between nationalism and patriotism. It is the difference between running for office and devoting yourself to public service. It's agreeing that you are part of something, taking as your baseline that you will not seek to reach your own goals by stepping on the neck of your community."
My favorite line comes at the 16:22 mark:
When given the choice between fame and glory ....take glory. Glory has a way of sneaking up on fame and stealing it's lunch money later anyway.
Carry Nation got what she wanted...it's not meant to be inspiring, it's meant to worry you. Do not for the fame, but the glory....
A transcript is not available at this time. I will attempt again to find one soon.
Update: Still trying...it's nowhere to be found yet. I'll keep trying.
