So, we all know the crap the GOP and the media will throw at Dean. He is far too left, he's looney, he is out of touch, he screamed once... It's all pure crap. We all know it. And here is something that proves it: an
article from May about Howard Dean stumping in Utah for his cousin. This might have been posted in the past, but I couldn't find it, and it deserves another look.
More below the fold
Some highlights(emphasis mine):
Dean, former governor of Vermont, said he and his first cousin come about their fiscal conservatism naturally. Both, he said, are descendants of Scots.
"I was known as being tight as a tick when I was governor of Vermont. And Peter will guide the finances of Salt Lake County in the way they ought to be driven," Dean said.
Dean immediately establishes how similar his ideas are with those of the people of Utah.
Dean attacked the Bush administration on money issues.
"The fact of the matter is, we now have a president who has borrowed half a trillion dollars every single year to balance the budget. There is no fiscal conservatism left in the Republican Party. You can't trust Republicans with your tax dollars."
He reached out to what he termed moderate Republicans. He said they are people who are "deeply concerned about the half-trillion-dollar budget deficit, deeply concerned about the war."
Dean's not pulling punches even on Bush, even in Utah; he is clearly attacking his policies. The article notes that the speech drew "repeated applause and cheers" from those gathered.
And finally....
There are a lot of reasons why America is "in a fix," Dean said. "This is an election season, so everybody's going to blame the Republicans," and there's some reason for that, he said.
"But some of it is the Democrats' fault for not standing up to the Republicans when we should have."
Well, Dr. Dean, that's why we got you on board. :).
Oh, and BTW, Peter Corroon, Howard Dean's cousin, won the mayoral race. Howard Dean in Utah doesnt make sense to the MSM. Howard Dean would be posion in Utah, right? He's too liberal! But, he went there and stated his case, and I think, helped get his cousin elected. In Utah. Yeah, ok, maybe Salt Lake County is a liberal bastion, but nevertheless, it is Utah, I'm guessing it isnt as left leaning as Boston, or LA. But this is a clear example of why they are scared of him. This is the guy who will go against Ken Mehlman on Sunday's. He'll be organizing, fundraising, maybe even stumping a little bit. I dont need to tell anyone here how powerful Howard Dean is and can be, but this is a nice story to throw in a right wingers face. :) Thoughts?
