As things get back underway, here's something that -- sadly -- will not be a shock: Fox "News" spliced out Joe Barton's apology from their coverage of his comments.
The only people still getting fooled by Fox are in their own audience.
Here's a live video of the hearing, which just resumed:
Update 1 -- Is Hayward as useless as a CEO as he is as a witness? Has he given a single substantive non-evasive answer to any question?
Update 2 -- Hayward says BP operates to the highest industry standard for safety. That's quite a condemnation of his industry.
Update 3 -- Politico reports Joe Biden called Joe Barton's apology to BP "outrageous" and "incredibly insensitive, incredibly out of touch."
A reporter asks Biden what he thinks about Rep. Joe Barton's comments that the White House arranged a "$20 billion shakedown" with BP. He responds that he "probably shouldn't comment on Mr. Barton's comment" because he likes to speak his mind. The press corps urges him to, and he massages his forehead to laughter.
Biden continues: "I find it incredibly insensitive, incredibly out of touch."
"There's no shakedown," he says. "I find it outrageous to suggest that if in fact we insisted that BP demonstrate their preparedness to put aside billions of dollars ... to take care of the immediate needs of people who are drowning."
Speaking of Gulf residents, he says, "these guys don't have deep pockets." He adds that Barton's comment was "astounding." (2:43 p.m.)
