that you think the Obama administration is a total betrayal of progressive values. The President did NOT run as a progressive. Yes, he has been disappointing on some some issues, and stronger on others. Like any politician, he is a mixed bag. He is a man, neither angel, savior, or even saint.
I don't care that you think anyone who criticizes Obama is doing him a disservice. We can agree that he is better than any Republican alternative, but that does not and should not mean that we do not criticize him and his administration. It is up to us to hold his feet to the fire, even as we agree that no Republican replacement would be better.
I don't care that you want to bash public schools and public school teachers and teachers unions. As a unionized teacher, I am well aware that there are things that need to be changed, but when you buy into the framing of those who really want to do away with unions and with public schools, I think you miss the real point.
And I don't care
that you think some Democrats who voted against health care are traitors to Democratic values. I know of a number who have been severely criticized on this website who were absolutely prepared to vote FOR health care reform in if Nancy Pelosi needed their votes, who were released by the Speaker once she know she had sufficient votes, because she wanted to give them cover to protect their seats.
I don't care that you disagree with me on issue that matter to me a great deal. I do not expect - either from you or from politicians - that you or they will agree with me on every issue. I can respect honest differences, and still support someone on balance, even if we disagree on some issues that matter a great deal to me - that applies to Jim Webb, to Barack Obama, to Tom Perriello, to Patrick Murphy, and to many others.
I don't care if you think I am an idiot because I disagree with me you, a blowhard because I express positions with which you disagree supporting them with arguments you do not respect. I am being honest about what I believe and support. Whether or not you agree is actually irrelevant.
I don't care if you think I am too self-referential when I write about education. I think writing as I do makes the reality of education policy more clear to other people. If you don't like what or how I write, create your own diaries.
I don't care if you think Daily Kos is going to hell because people are increasingly expressing views or putting forth diaries with which you disagree. You are neither proprietor nor censor of this site. If you don't like something, present your argument as to why you think it was wrong.
I don't care if you recommend this diary, comment, or totally ignore everything I have to say. I am not writing to please you nor to gain transitory credit from your use of the Recommend button. I am writing because I believe I am saying something worthwhile, that may in fact speak to someone other than myself.
So react or not as you chose. I respect that you can disagree with me. But I certainly don't care if you choose to attack me. I think what I offer is of value to some, otherwise I would not bother to
- write it
- post it
- monitor and respond to comments.
If you want to bash me, I don't care.
If you want to dialog, I am open to learning from you, even if you tear me apart.
Have a nice day.
Peace.
