Discusses the Israeli government funded 'internet commenters patrol, www.giyus.org and the Israeli propaganda machine
I recently re-posted a piece from my blog to my Diary here at Daily Kos and got 125 comments. Here is the link The End of the Republic? Having worked in online media for a long time, I knew something was up. The metrics just didn't make sense. There is no way that I could have gotten that many comments on such little traffic without something strange going on.
As I read threw the comments two things jumped out at me. One, the tone was incredibly negative. This piece has been read over 1,000 times on my blog, with an average time of over 6 minutes per visit and while there have been positive and negative comments, nothing virulently negative.
The second thing I noticed is that the commenters knew each other well and many where in the same physical location, as they planned to meet later to play volleyball etc.
While the piece is strongly anti-AIPAC, it’s not anti-semetic. It points out Cleary, without mincing words, a view point very much opposed to AIPAC and the Neo-Cons.
The commenters almost never argued the points of the article; they simply made personal attacks on me, my books, my writing style etc.
They did point out one possible mistake on a quote that I am researching now to verify. So who were these people? I assumed it was someone very Likudish, who sent an email to friends to come bash the piece. Fair enough. But as I investigated I found out it was much more organized.
There is an organization, funded by the Israeli government, www.giyus.org to patrol articles with an anti-Israel bias, and bash them with comments accusing the author of anti-Semitism, being a conspiracy theorist or a TeaParty member, none of which pertains to me in the least. They are obviously focusing on the US. You would expect this from the Soviet Union or North Korea, but from Israel?
So now we know how part of our $3 Billion dollars in aid is being spent, to stifle free speech in America. Big surprise.
Luckily, those of us who have wised up to the Israeli propaganda machine in the US have seen this many times with the shenanigans of the ADL. Their latest plot to oppose the Islamic cultural center a few blocks from ground zero has really shown their colors. Their intolerance is astounding. How can they be taken seriously after this episode I have no idea.
www.giyus.org is the clearest sign I have seen yet of the desperation of the Neo-Cons, and the entire Israeli propaganda machine. Should the people who oppose the Neo-con agenda begin their own "Giyus"? No need to. Their arguments are so weak, the lies and war mongering so blatant, that people are waking up every day to the lies. At first it is not easy. It is easier to believe FOX, CNN, The New York Times, your local paper, Palin, Biden, Obama and Bush than ones own common sense. But once the facts sink in, people are invariably coming to their senses.
Lets do a thought experiment. Imagine the US State Department was funding a 'Giyus' that paid commenters to bash pro-Likud articles in the Israeli press, what would be the reaction?
I would ask readers to do two things. First, send an email to the State Department demanding that Israel stop officially meddling in our free speech. Second, write articles, and post comments and discuss this with friends. Giyus, not the Islamic cultural center in Manhattan, should be the big topic of debate. Let make it that.
