The great farcical tragedy of our unemployment situation is that there's so much work to be done, and there are so many workers who need something to do, yet no one has brought forth any means of paying those workers to do that work. And so no connection is made.
The situation that threatens to undermine the upcoming Oct. 2 One Nation Working Together March for Our Future is that those who have the money to go don't have the time, and those who have the time to go don't have the money. Will we, too, fail to make the connection?
In a comment on oxfdblue's Recommended diary about the march, I proposed that Kossacks who have the money but not the time sponsor Kossacks who have the time but not the money. This "diary" is meant to serve as a clearinghouse for those sponsorships, matching those who have the resources to those who need them. Details below the cut.
Here's how this works:
At the end of this diary, there will be three top-level comments: the Tip Jar, Seeking Sponsor and Willing to Sponsor.
If you want to march and need a sponsor, post a comment in reply to Seeking Sponsor with just your username in the subject line. Include any details pertaining to your request in the text of the comment.
If you want to sponsor a marcher, do one (not both) of the following:
- Choose a specific user to sponsor from the Seeking Sponsor list and reply to that person's comment. Then contact each other privately and work out the details.
- Post an open offer under Willing to Sponsor, with the nature of your sponsorship offer in the subject line (e.g., "Offering up to $200 for transport/hotel"). Include any details pertaining to your offer in the text of the comment.
If you just want to cheer or boo this idea, post your comment under the Tip Jar.
If you have any other comment, such as offers of couch space, ride shares, etc.; information on chartered buses; or anything else related to the Oct. 2 march, post it after the Tip Jar, Seeking Sponsor and Willing to Sponsor comment trees.
Let's make this damn thing happen.
