Not his own, of course, but that's not the point. Michael Griffin, Director of NASA, stated today that it was a mistake for NASA to develop the Space Shuttle and the International Space Station. "It is now commonly accepted that was not the right path," Griffin said. "We are now trying to change the path while doing as little damage as we can."
I think this is a great analogy for the Right's rubric of "if you don't support the war, you don't support the troops." Fourteen astronauts lost their lives on Challenger and Columbia. No one would ever say that we were demeaning those astronauts, or questioning their bravery and heroism by questioning the prudence of NASA management in pursuing the Space Shuttle and International Space Station programs.
It just illustrates how nonsensical it is to say that questioning Bush's War somehow demeans the brave men and women fulfilling their duty in Iraq.
