Today, Chairman Raul Grijalva suggested we tear down the 1000
shut down off shore platforms.

i suggest we instead make them small wind energy platforms, mini parks,
fishing platforms, and tourist destinations.
Here's the Problem Chairman Grijalva wants to Address
- There is a lot of unemployment in the Gulf areas.
- There are abandoned oil rigs some in very bad shape.
I have a lot of respect for Mr Grijalva. He's a real guy, a real progressive
and a real netizen....
I'd suggest that we could do with these rigs
instead of demolishing these

lets make them like this

we can replace the oil gear on them, clean them up, put little mini parks
on the weak ones.
we can put wind turbines on the strong ones.

Edit 1
lets say they are parks, grow kelp off the legs,
grow mangrove and salt tolerant bushes on the top
harvest rain water
We can make offshore reefs of the platforms, by sinking clean derelicts near them and let fishermen push these as day trip destinations.
these platfors have basic infrastructure already, for offshore power.
(Solid foundations, pipelines to shore, housing,
lets fix them up, use them to build little mini offshore communities
I would live offshore, if it was a close boatride to a city, and we could
make money providing meals to sportsmen.
and as we build up usage out there, we could use these to tend
off shore tidal generators.
don't destroy these Mr Chairman, Use them.
