This afternoon I spent some time reading a stunning story in Der Speigel (English Edition Online), headlined "A Tale of Two Lives Destroyed by Abu Ghraib". If the story of what we have REALLY accomplished in Iraq is of interest to you, please come along...
Two men and a camera. One, a young American MP, the other, an Iraqi parking lot attendant, family man and community leader. Two souls lost, driven out of their peace.
You know the rest, you saw the image. This is the story of the man in the cape; the indelible image of wires and hood and a box. And it is the story of the minds of our servicemen and women and how they become bent.
Apparently this famous image is now a common poster in Bagdhad. No matter what Condi says, no matter what the Right Wing spews, this is the story of the War On Terror and why we lost.
