We could be packing the Democratic Party local conventions.
At the urging of Glen Maxey, who hopes to chair the Texas Democratic Convention, I attended my precinct Democratic caucus. What I had to do was to vote in the primary, then come back at 7:15 after the polls closed.
A grand total of four people showed up for the Democratic precinct caucus. The Republicans had a couple more than we did, and they also seemed to know what they were doing. We were alloted 9 delegate positions to the county convention.
So we will all be going to the county convention (though possibly not our chair, whose baby is due about that time.)
We could have had 5 more delegates to the county convention if anybody had even showed up!
Now, most party decisions are still made in the back rooms and all, but some decisions are actually made democratically in the conventions, such as electing some of the people who go to the back rooms to smoke cigars or whatever it is that they do these days.
