This is NOT the way I wanted to start 2011.
I've frequently said to Republican friends that my worst fear is Jon Huntsman, only to get a deer in headlights look from them. You see, they don't realize that they have what could be a super keg of dynamite candidate to oppose President Obama in 2012. Most of them have never heard of the guy. Well, that may change fast.

When Barack Obama posted Jon Huntsman to Beijing, it looked like a crafty way to sideline a 2012 rival. Don’t bet on it.
And now this:
Asked whether he is prepared to rule out a run in 2012 (since it would require him to campaign against his current boss), he declines to comment.
And from Politico:
http://www.politico.com/...
...sources close to Huntsman (who requested anonymity to speak freely without his permission) say that during his December trip to the U.S., he met with several former political advisers in Washington and Salt Lake City to discuss a potential campaign. "I’m not saying he’s running," says one supporter who has worked with him in the past. "But we’re a fire squad; if he says the word, we can get things going fast." What’s more, Huntsman tells NEWSWEEK that when he accepted the ambassadorial appointment, he promised his family they would "come up for air" sometime in 2010 to decide how much longer they would stay in Beijing. "I’m not announcing anything at all," he says. But he sure seems to be hinting.
B-b-b-b-ut he's a moderate!

He made a name for himself in Utah by advocating a moderate agenda in one of the most conservative states. He drew the most attention for supporting civil unions, despite backing a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage that passed in 2004.
If these comments are any indication, our hope lies in the far right wing
to stop Huntsman in his tracks...

No way (as in I will NOT get behind that idea). Huntsman is a McCain-lite. In fact, he upset many a Utahan when he put his support behind McCain rather than Romney in ‘08. Huntsman may be a nice guy from a good family, but he’s no true conservative.

2nd to kristen; Huntsman is no
Conservative. Nobody I’d know.
Just another pretty face, be
Like so many, like Romney...
$3.6 million for a new pad in D.C.?
Not exactly a man of the people, he.
No thanks. No interest. Too light.
I want a warrior, proven in the fight.
If you are an optimist, you will see that the tea party group will never support a moderate like Huntsman.
If you are a pessimist, you will understand that we Democrats better start unifying like never before because we are about to have our legs cut out from under us. He is the kind of guy the independents would love.
And to President Obama: You best unify your base like never before.
Oh, did I mention he's good looking?
