Has anyone noticed that all of a sudden, the press is full of stories about the imminent failure of Medicare, now that the baby-boomers are starting to retire? A story on ABC news yesterday referred to "the troubled Medicare program". Lordy, who knew?
I guess what finally made me holler foul is this headline from Food Consumer (whoever that is):
Medicare Taxes not Enough for Baby Boomers' Medical Care
You just know when Food Consumer is on the case, it's some serious sh*t.
So it's not like anything has happened we didn't know about 20 years ago. But all of a sudden there's all this panic in the press about Medicare going bust and what are we gonna do to reduce payouts. That seems to be the only thing to do. I have yet to see an article ask "How are we going to ensure our seniors get adequate health care".
You know, a less reasonable person than I might think there was some kind of conspiracy at work here. You know, like some one that wanted to destroy Medicare might have hired a PR agency to get all these articles placed. You don't think that could actually happen do you?
Anyone know what good old Dick Armey is up to?
