Sorry for the quick diary entry but what's up with all the diaries on the rec list about religion?
* Why I am an Atheist
* I was a Christian Once
* Why I am still a Christian (paraphrasing as it's off the list now)
Just below I see two more:
* "Invisible Sky Fairies and "Flying Spaghetti Monsters"
* Dead Letter, Why Christianity As We Know it is Toast
Daily Kos is for electing Democrats. Democrats can be Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, Atheist, Taoist, whatever. It's 2011 and there's a severe lack of attention being paid to some of the elections that will be happening this year:

Some of these are:
Nationwide, there are cities, counties, school boards, special districts and others that will elect members in 2011. Of those, some of the most high-profile include mayoral elections in Baltimore; Memphis; Chicago; Dallas; Houston; Indianapolis; Jacksonville, Florida; Philadelphia; Pittsburgh; San Francisco; Wasilla, Alaska, whose mayor's office was once filled by Sarah Palin; Salt Lake City; and Phoenix.
That's some 30-50 million people by my rough estimation, in some of the largest cities in the country. Let's pay a bit more attention to worthy candidates for 2011 that would love to be noticed but can't because Daily Kos is talking about religion. Please don't let Chicago be the only election that is paid attention to this year while the rest of them fall under the radar.
If there are other elections or issues that directly relate to politics in the US (as in electing Democrats, enacting legislation or anything else of that nature between 2011 and 2012) then talk about that too. Regular discussion on religion though belongs on sites like Reddit.
Don't get me wrong, I love discussing religion and philosophy. It just happens to be a waste of time and effort for a site like Daily Kos which was created specifically to elect people that belong to a party which includes people of any and all religious and non-religious persuasions.
