Good morning, and what a wild week. Welcome to Saturday Morning Garden Blogging.
Denver started the week out in waaaayyyy down in the dumps. The good news was that, for once, more snow fell than was forecast — 4" to 6" was predicted, and we got about 7". Whoo hoo!
Unfortunately, it also was very cold. Monday morning when it was 12°, the ramp into the parking garage at work was too slick to drive up. I reported the problem to building security and the ramp was promptly de-iced... only to ice-up again with snow carried up on vehicle tires. Eventually they had a shovel brigade out to keep the ramp scraped off between cars.
And it just got colder. When Mayor Hickenlooper changed into Governor Hickenlooper on Tuesday, the high was only 13° (we could see the flash from the window-rattling cannon salute from our office). Wednesday morning, with the low at -3°, the milk delivery froze.
I'm ready for my front yard to look like this again.
It's just been so wild this week. The snow and freezing cold down south; Missys Brother buried in over two feet of snow in the northeast; the flooding down in Australia (we've heard from a friend in Brisbane that his house — barely — escaped flooding. The water stopped rising just as it entered his yard).
And of course, there's Tucson.
With all that, I'm just not feeling very gardeny today — and too distracted to be very writey, either.
Next week I'm sure I'll find something to ramble on about... like that I've figured out how to root fuchsias.
That's what's happening here. What's going on in your gardens?
