Welcome to Press the Face, a Sunday-morning talk show liveblog where you can respond to the Sunday talks with your opinions, support, refutations, or ravings. The larger goal is to provide meaningful accounts of the the shows for those who are unable to watch them, but it's also an opportunity to share our thoughts in real time as armchair spectators of the sport of political discussion.
John Boehner cries a lot. He cried when Republicans won control of the House. He cried when he was sworn in as Speaker. He cried when he was presented with the Henry J. Hyde Defender of Life Award. He's cried during floor speeches, golf games with his buddies, and visits to elementary schools. Did John Boehner cry when his colleague, Representative Gabby Giffords, was shot and critically wounded during an assassination attempt? The mainstream media reported that he did manage to attend a cocktail party with fellow Republicans the night of the memorial service in Tucson. Did he cry in his beer? The GOP isn't confirming or denying. Perhaps he thought the tears of the nation were adequate for the occasion and decided to reserve his own for more prescient events, like when the House repeals the health care bill.
