It is painless and quick and will permit all the tax cut for the wealthy you could ever dream about to come true. It falls perfectly into their logic that once upon a time the world was a better place. A world where:

1] Men were men.

2] Women were chattel.

3] People of color were 3/5 of a person.

A happier and more civilized world where slaves respected their masters. A world where only the white [male] landed gentry could vote.. A glorious time; a golden age where the world's resources were limitless and ripe for the pillaging. Never mind who actually owned and inhabited the land before they got there; sheesh, savages.
Well if you are worried about the size of the deficit do I have some good news for you: Cheap, cheerful, and linguistic.

Republicans so fond of massaging the past to suit their logic need look no further, the Oxford Dictionary comes to their rescue

In British English, a billion used to be equivalent to a million million (i.e. 1,000,000,000,000), while in American English it has always equated to a thousand million (i.e. 1,000,000,000). British English has now adopted the American figure, though, so that a billion equals a thousand million in both varieties of English.

The same sort of change has taken place with the meaning of trillion. In British English, a trillion used to mean a million million million (i.e. 1,000,000,000,000,000,000). Nowadays, it's generally held to be equivalent to a million million (1,000,000,000,000), as it is in American English.

Republicans refuse to see the elephant in the room; the military budget, so this leap of logic should be easy for them.

Our $14 trillion dollar deficit becomes in one fell and painless swoop $14 billion. Even total US debt of $55 trillion becomes a trifling $55 billion. As we know with trickledown economics if only things were done properly it would work; same with this plan.

Just use Fox Noise to promote the new terminology, without of course stating the neither the underlying methodology nor actual facts, and then announce to the world that the US deficit is a mere $14 billion.

Hey Presto, problem solved.
Of course you would have to massage the egos of a few billionaires who are now mere mortals and only multimillionaires, with this new revised economic miracle you could give them a further tax cut.

It's a winner I'm telling you!
Ok; so you have to harp back to the days of the British Empire, but we beat that lot once before and we can do it again!

1783 here we come; so what if many also lose their voting rights at the same time, some sacrifices have to be made for the greater good.

Come on you pack of Scandinavian elitist snobs where is my Nobel Prize for Economics?

Quantum reality assures us that this in all probability must be true somewhere; why not here? Well until you actually observe it that is, but who cares? I have bent reality now unbend it...I dare you.
Republicans have never had  a problem with defining what reality is, it's what you perceive it to be; and if all else fails there is always the Rapture to fall back upon.

Have a great Sunday now that I have saved the economy.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
