I don't think we've heard the last of the senate not taking up the vote to repeal HCR. There is a push for people to contact the senate representatives for this. See this link: http://ht.ly/... and follow me below...
Edit:
I thought this was a new show, but it actually aired on Jan 17th. I can't link directly to the video but if you go here and scroll down to Jan 17th, you can watch it online.
I'm not sure what I was watching earlier but I walked into my room to see that Rod Parsley's Breakthrough was in progress. I don't normally watch Parsley, I don't care for the vibe I get from him, but I do respect him for the work and attention he brings to the people of Sudan. I'm not doing a break down analysis of what I saw, though I will remark on a couple of points I take issue with. This is just to report what I've heard so you can be aware of how and why some may still be perceiving HCR as a threat.
This morning I walked in on the end part of a special edition regarding abortion and HCR. If they update his site with the video, I will link to it. I hit the record button so I could watch it from the beginning, but I'm sorry I'm not dedicated enough to do a word by word transcript.
The show started out with "HCR has been repealed in the house and the fight for the sanctity of life moves to the senate."
Parsley started out quoting Gen 2:7, John 3:16 and John 10:10 to bring together that God is the creator of life, that He values life and that as Christians it is our duty to value and protect life. (...then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.; For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.; A thief comes only to steal and slaughter and destroy; I came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.) After he quoted Gen 2:7 he went on to say " then and only then was man really alive. It is only by the breath of God that you and I are alive today." He said life is God's greatest gift. I agree, but I think we may need to worry about the children already here and starving first. More on this scripture later when I bring up the point's I take issue with.
He went on to say our culture has blurred the value of life and we now value death over life. He had a nice big graphic Life: bad Death: good and went on to say we now celebrate death. That we have rebranded "pro-life" and "pro-choice" to "abortion rights advocates" or "abortion rights opponents", making opponent into a negative. He refers to abortion several times as "murder on demand".
He then went on to refer to a court ruling out of Belgium: Court rules that parents can sue doctors who fail to diagnose disabilities in the unborn fetus. Not cause disability, failed to diagnose. He said this is based on parents not wanting a "defective" child and assuming they would choose to abort. He said we are moving away from suing for wrongful death, to suing for "wrongful life." He then went on to say, and had a splash screen also saying that "the court opinion is that the life of a disabled child is not worth preserving". I don't know if that is what is actually in the ruling or his opinion/interpretation of the ruling.
He said the HCR was "pushed, crammed, rammed, and jammed through the administration currently occupying the Whitehouse". He went on to say he does agree that the healthcare system needs reformed, but that HCR is allowing unfettered access to abortion on demand.
He then quoted James 5 (You have lived on earth in luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered the innocent one, who was not opposing you. The translation he used translated the bold part as they who cannot resist) Basically he went on to say since America is standing by and letting the innocent unborn be slaughtered, "they who cannot resist", that we are guilty of a crime and that we need to take a stand for the God given, not government given right to life. He said government is extinguishing life as a result of HCR and Roe Vs Wade, and that due to this our hard earned tax dollars are about to pay for abortion. He gave a figure as 53 million abortions (murders) having taken place.
He said 70% of Americans oppose tax dollars going to abortion yet our elected officials ignored our values, ignored our will and rapidly shoving HCR into law and that we must make them accountable and make it clear that we will not support any law that "constitutionalizes" abortion or directly or indirectly uses tax dollars to pay for them. He said it was morally wrong and in violation of the will of the American people.
Mike Dewine dropped in for an interview. He said the HCR bill was a disaster, it would allow tax dollars to be used to fund abortions. He said it was an intrusion on state and individual rights, and that government should protect life.
Parsley gave a shout out to Rachel Maddow who "normally is intellectually honest but went overboard on her propaganda piece" regarding George tiller. I stopped taking notes when he went on to say the pro-life movement was one of the most peaceful, non violent social movements ever. Who the hell believes THAT?
He then went on to address Kathleen Sebelius and what he sees as a huge amount of power in her hands. He said the HCR refers to her position 1075 times. He said whomever controls the purse strings controls everything and that she had a 1 trillion dollar budget. He said she had the ability to exempt businesses from HCR. He brought up her time serving as Gov. of Kansas, how she vetoed pro life legislation 4 times, and her ties to planned parenthood and George Tiller. Apparently they were both big contributors to her campaign. He said Sebelius supports federal funding of abortions. He said that organizations that "promote" abortion ( splash screen on tv said "support" abortion) received 1 billion in funding, with planed parenthood receiving 2/3 of that. He did acknowledge they received this funding before HCR was passed.
He acknowledged the executive order signed by President Obama regarding the funding of abortion, but said it wasn't worth anything as it was not part of the actual law. He said no one knows the status of the order or how to utilize it to make sure there is no funding for abortions. He said abortion is referred to in the new bill as "essential care" and that because hospitals are required to provide essential care, that religious organizations would be required to provide abortions under essential care.
He said the American people spoke loudly in November giving a pro-life majority. He went on to mention Chris Smith of NJ, Dan Lipinski of IL, Mike Pence of IN, had sponsored pro-life bills. He had a nice Glenn Beck style chalkboard with pictures of Sebelius, Smith, Lipinski, Pence and of course John Boehner of OH.
At the end of it all he said it is lonely and expensive being one of the few voices to speak out, so he would appreciate a contribution so he could continue his great work.

My issues with all this:
I'm worried about Sebelius being a focus. He didn't use any violent rhetoric, beyond referring to abortion as murder. The strongest language he used in regard to the congress is that we must MAKE them accountable, however it's just a matter of time before this filters out and then others might start up with the rhetoric. I expect to see a huge ongoing effort to defund HCR. The bill has passed but the fight hasn't even begun. Hopefully Harry Reid will keep his promise not to bring repeal up to a vote. Parsley was really hammering home that tax dollars are being used to fund abortions.
As I said earlier Parsley quoted Gen 2:7 then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature. and went on to say "then and only then was man really alive. It is only by the breath of God that you and I are alive today." Ok, I agree with that. There is a debate about when life begins. This shouldn't be a debate for Christian's as scripture is clear. According to scripture you are not a living human being until you draw your first breath and your soul enters. Science may say life begins at conception, the bible does not.
In Gen 2:7 man was fully formed, didn't become alive until the breath of God entered.
In Exodus 21:22 When men have a fight and hurt a pregnant woman, so that she suffers a miscarriage, but no further injury, the guilty one shall be fined as much as the woman's husband demands of him, and he shall pay in the presence of the judges. If a fetus dies before being fully formed and able to live outside a woman's body, it was a fine, not a capital offense such as murder would have required. So according to scripture, abortion would not be murder. I think the partial birth abortions may qualify, but not the standard ones that are performed. Recently since the bible says the life is in the blood there has been some saying that life begins when blood forms in the fetus, but that was never the traditional view for Jews or Christians.
I also didn't like how Parsley used scriptures regarding salvation to try to tie those into an abortion debate. The scriptures regarding having life more abundantly refer to spiritual life, as we were spiritually dead.
We were already physically alive and kicking.
I was also disturbed that he was addressing this in the way he did. That still doesn't sit right with me. I don't know if it is the Glenn Beck style chalk board or that he was calling out Sebelius and mentioning specific congress members by name, but I can't shake the feeling of "wrongness". I'm sorry I can't explain it any better than that, but that was the first thought that hit me when I realized the topic. If anyone wants to try to catch the show, it normally will be the same one I saw, re-airing at different times in different markets.
So anyway, that is the latest from this side of religion and politics...how goes your day so far??
