Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) rarely returned to her district last year and is notorious for working her butt off to raise her national profile. With her 2012 presidential run, her visits back to Minnesota should probably become less frequent. Obviously she's concerned about her image as a globetrotting self-promoter. She'd prefer that everyone thinks she's busy working hard for her north suburban Twin Cities and north central Minnesota constituents.
So when Margaret Carlson, a writer for Bloomberg, wanted to write an article about Bachmann bogarting Majority Leader John Boehner's limelight, she answered this way:
I called to get a statement on Egypt from Minnesota Representative and House Tea Party Caucus founder Michele Bachmann and was told by her press secretary that, in spite of numerous requests, she wouldn’t be giving any interviews this week while she concentrates on district work.
Great. Getting back to her district is a good thing. If only it were true:
But according to the Grassroot Institute Hawaii, Bachmann is scheduled to give a luncheon talk at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu today—4,476 miles and 80 degrees F. from the subzero temperatures her constituents in Minnesota’s 6th District woke up to this morning.

Why tell this lie that she's in her district for the week. Obviously, her staff is only covering for her. But considering how often she lies, I've gotta ask:
- Is she a compulsive liar?
