Last week I published a Diary where I pointed out that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had committed a crime when he filed his financial disclosure statements and stated that his wife had no "Non-Investment Income" when in fact she had been receiving in excess of $100K annually from the Heritage Foundation. I would like to thank those who gave the diary a rec and brought it to the forefront.
Realizing that, absent a public outcry, there was little or no chance that the Department of Justice would ever take any action, I created an online petition to seek DOJ action. I published a link to that petition in a comment on another diary on the same topic. It got only 9 sigs before the diary fell off the rec list.
In an effort to get more exposure for this effort, I contacted the people at ProtectOurElections.org and asked them to help.
Please understand Justice Thomas did not just fail do disclose he affirmatively stated that his wife had no reportable income.
After a bit of legal research into the law they published an article on The Honest Leadership And Open Government Act Of 2007.
Shortly thereafter, they wrote to Eric Holder to ask that Justice Thomas be prosecuted. A copy of their letter in linked to in an article on their website.
We need your help. Please sign their petition to ask the DOJ to investigate! Here is the link.
