It's good thing I have so much time on my hands today. Who cares about class preparation tomorrow, or wearing clean underwear, or the husband needing the usual attention (like I really care that pitchers and catchers are just around the corner)? I needed all that time to post a few comments, try to choose my avatar, which I was only recently allowed to do, ask to join two groups ( I've decided to only ask to join those groups which have open invitations -- in other words let me know I'll be accepted so I don't have to suffer humiliating rejection and be forced back into therapy).
That said, despite the slowness, which is understandable give that this is the first day, I think DK4 is terrific. I took me about a week in beta to muddle through the format, but it is actually quite intuitive and the groups are fantastic--whether it's to follow or participate by writing diaries. I like being able to be a part of a conversation where there are shared sensibilities (and huge dollops of humor). I found some of the rancor and nasty pejoratives on DK3 really unpleasant and it certainly dissuaded me from even venturing a comment (lest I be called a '__waffle' -- which was one of my favorites).
That's not to say everyone needs to agree on everything, as often an exchange of differing opinions can be very informative. Certainly I've been schooled a time or two and would rather get it right than get stuck in 'being right'.
I love the Cranky Users and the way Kelley brought so many people together. I am definitely here to stay.
(Many icons of hearts -- which I simply cannot figure out how to do. But that does along with pics and videos, which I will be trying in the near future)
Now it's off to Nuke a burrito for 'he who shall not give up on the Mets'. Sorry I can't write enough to go over the fold. Oh well.
