Welcome to Musical Moondays, an open thread series for music junkies and their enablers. Please add your musical contribution, which may or may not relate to everything and/or nothing at all. Post a comment with the song that's been stuck in your head all day, or play around with the diarist's musical theme. This is a Safe Space, so Be Nice!
Tonight's edition focuses on our human need to belong. We all want to feel like part of a community, and I'm extending the welcome mat to anyone who has ever felt out of place, out of the loop, or not quite in control of the situation. I was always a wallflower and had a hard time performing in front of people, which is a shame because I have a lot of innate talent that isn't being shared. Let's open up here a bit tonight and bring ourselves to share a little of what's really inside. My musical selection to kick things off this evening is Blind Melon's No Rain; join us for a video intensive experience below the fold!
Blind Melon - No Rain
Ooooo-oo-oo-oo-oo, oo-oo-oo-oo
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
I like watching the puddles gather rain
And all I can do is just pour some tea for two
And speak my point of view
But it's not sane, it's not sane
I just want someone to say to me no, oh, oh, oh
I'll always be there when you wake, yea-ah
You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I don't understand why I sleep all day
And I start to complain that there's no rain
And all I can do is read a book to stay awake
And it rips my life away, but it's a great escape
Escape......escape......escape......
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain
You don't like my point of view
You think that I'm insane
It's not sane, It's not sane
I just want someone to say to me no, oh, oh, oh
I'll always be there when you wake, yea-ah
You know I'd like to keep my cheeks dry today
So stay with me and I'll have it made
And I'll have it made
And I'll have it made, oh
Lord no no
You know I'm really gonna, really gonna have it made
You know I'll have it made
Ahhh, ahhh, ahhh, ahhh
Here's some handy-dandy directions for embedding music videos in a comment from our fellow Musical Mooner, Azazello:
- Go to YouTube, you'll see a search bar at the top.
- Type in song and/or artist, eg. age of aquarius.
- Browse the videos 'til you see the one you want.
- Click the video and it will play.
- There will be a button under the video that says embed, click it.
- A bunch of code will appear, it will be in blue, that is, it has selected itself.
- Right click this and press copy.
- Now you're ready to rock, go to the body of your comment, right click and select paste.
- Try it.
