I’ve been sitting back and watching how the new “groups” feature works and have come up with a set of guidelines for our Saturday night What’s for Dinner? get-togethers. Now that the upgrade dust has settled, I think it’s time for operational plans and details. We’ve got to start somewhere and we can always make improvements and tweaks as needed.
I’m thrilled that ninkasi23 is joining me as a BlogAdmin. We’re both going to be involved in the coordinating, scheduling and messaging. Several of you have contacted us and volunteered to help. Thank you so much. It’s great to know that’s there are so many people interested in making sure this series continues.
So going forward, here’s how our series, What’s for Dinner?, will be organized.
- What’s for Dinner will be published at 7:30 p.m. EST. on Saturday. We feel a consistent time makes for a more enjoyable experience for our commenters and followers. This will also remove the pressure/necessity for diarists to be available to publish themselves.
- Our spirit and purpose stay the same: A Saturday evening get-together where friends share recipes, talk about good food and help others answer culinary questions.
- All WFD diaries will need to be “queued” to the WFD group by the host diarist before 12 p.m. EST of your assigned day. You’re welcome to submit them earlier of course.
Unfortunately, we’ve had some no-shows lately so ninkasi23 and I feel we need some time cushion to contact the diarist and find out what’s going on, find a substitute diarist, or put something together ourselves. We also want to make sure the version number is added and the correct set of tags are used. There won’t be any other editorial changes.
- We’ve decided that members will be limited to those dKos users who write What’s for Dinner? diaries. The next several diarists in the line-up will receive group invitations and a link to this dairy shortly.
- The WFD group will not be republishing other diaries. We’ve decided, at least for now, that the blog will be solely devoted to the What’s for Dinner? series.
If you’re new to What’s for Dinner? and want to find out more. Please visit our group and join us tomorrow. This series premiered on August 5, 2006 and has been going strong ever since. If you want to learn more about our history please tune in here. For a listing 2010 diaries along with a short description you can check this out.
Now please go hit that follow button. The coffee pot will be freshly brewed and the bar will be open when you stop by tomorrow evening. You won’t regret it.
