Really, President Obama, a weekly address about Intel????
I am generally very supportive of President Obama. Really, a two second check of my illustrious diary history will reveal me congratulating blue dogs for helping get the flawed health care bill passed.
But moments like this leave me shaking my head at our President's tone deafness on some issues. He puts out a moderately supportive statement about the fight in Madison and then carries on with his "America Competes" tour like this is just some run of the mill legislative fight.
Republicans are trying to kick down the foundation of the Democratic Party. They are doing it in Barack Obama's backyard. This time WE are leading HIM just like he said we should so many times during the campaign. How many times did we hear him say things like "Make me do it."? Moments like this make me cynically think of that sentiment as just more empty campaign rhetoric.
Sometimes I agree that there needs to be a hellof a lot more WE in Yes WE can, but here we have thousands and thousands of WE shouting and making our voices heard in Madison and on the day of the biggest rally we get this weekly address that basically ignores us. Someone in his political operation should have had the insight "Hm. This issue is blowing up. Let's change our message this week. Let's JOIN THIS FIGHT."
Sure this is a rant and I am preaching to the choir, but my point is not to despair about how Obama is making the wrong move. We need to push him harder to speak out forcefully on this.
Obama should come to Madison. We need to push harder to bring him there.

We are already leading our leaders. If thousands of people hadn't shown up do you think the State Senate Democrats would have hopped the bus to Rockford, IL? I doubt it. KEEP GOING!
