Jeralyn and I are pleased that Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse has agreed to join us as an Admin for our group. We all appreciate the interest shown in our group and are currently working out how to add contributors.
One of the issues is defining the mission, to use a haughty word, for the group. One of the missions obviously is to present the views of Jeralyn, myself and PDNC (I need a better shorthand for Patriot Daily News Clearinghouse.) But clearly these are not the only topics of interest.
More generally, we want to foster discussion of legal issues that have special impact on the political issues of the day. We've tried to bring that flavor in our initial posts and in the post we republished. Clearly interests vary. Jeralyn is very much focused on criminal law issues. I focus many of my posts on the constitutional relationship between the branches of government and the federal and state government. PDNC has dedicated a great deal of time to civil liberties issues. But obviously the intersection of law and politics extends well beyond these issues. More on the flip.
For those who have expressed interest in contributing, and who might consider contributing, your thoughts on how to best foster these discussions would be of great interest to us.
One proposal that I am mulling is a sort of assignment desk, fed by group members and readers of the group. What are the legal issues that people want to read about and why? This could range from Explainer type pieces to more in depth analysis of more complicated legal matters.
So consider this post an experiment for my assignment desk idea - what topics would you like to see covered by the group? And what ideas do you have to make the group work better for you as a reader and potentially, as a contributor. Your suggestions are greatly appreciated.
