Austerity in the industrialized world, the calls for shared sacrifice.
What a load of absolute drivel.
The boom bust cycle is inherent in the design of our so called market driven economy. In the boom period markets expand the rich get richer and the middle class expands, fine, __ing wonderful I hear you say. Then comes the bust everyone gets hit hard, but the rich have greater savings to fall back upon which become useful in buying up more as those lower down the food chain have to sell at knockdown prices. The rich now own proportionately more than they did before, now all the have to do is stockpile enough to profit from the next bust. ...and so on. The end result a few super-rich and everybody else.
Hey presto
This winner-take-all phenomenon has been particularly stark in the US, where, between 2002 and 2007, 65% of all income growth went to the top 1% of the population.
So they can ride out the bust all the time acquring more. its no longer confined by national boundaries
As a result, they are becoming a trans-global community of peers who have more in common with one another than with their countrymen back home.
Rich enough to set global economic policy, thereby reducing the effectiveness of democracy whilst giving a hint that it might still exist.
But here is the lesson of history. In the long run super elites can only survive in one of two ways - by suppressing dissent, or by sharing the wealth.
Well we know how that turned out:
Tax cuts for the top 1%, were you surprised?
Now how to stop us fighting back.
Attack the unions, promote free trade agreements, and use the MSM as a propaganda tool.
Are you ready for dissent?
The NYT might be finally getting the message.
Like a wind-whipped brush fire, the mass union protests that began in Madison, Wis., last week have spread to the capitals of Ohio and Indiana where Republican lawmakers also are trying to cripple the bargaining power of unions — and ultimately realize a cherished partisan dream of eradicating them. In each case, Republican talk of balancing budgets is cover for the real purpose of gutting the political force of middle-class state workers, who are steady supporters of Democrats and pose a threat to a growing conservative agenda.
Now lets us see if they can keep going with this discussion rather than just flipping in the 24h new cycle.
