Given my geriatric status, I have pointedly decried the use of YouTube links replacing individual comments. So I'll not post the link that gave rise to the thoughts that follow. But it concerned a local ( not my locale) female politician spewing anti-Muslim sentiments in Yorba Linda.
Apparently there was a fundraising event at a mosque in Yorba Linda, which drew its Tea Party genre protesters. The female Republican politician was voicing her objections to the event, noting that she knew a lot of Marines who would like to send them to paradise, or something to that effect. The Muslim-Americans interviewed expressed fears that they had not experienced before, in this country. (BTW, that is saying a lot).
It struck me that so many female conservative/mostly Republican women share the public spotlight currently. I wondered if the male conservatives were parading their ilk around, only to suggest, that while women may ascend to some position in the world, just look at how fucking crazy they are, and you will realize women are unfit for "higher" office. Remember when Bob Dole hesitated to support Liddy's ("I like to go down and connect with the audience..") presidential run? Any spouse of a male presidential candidate is required to come out in force for her mate--even Dr. Dean (the female one) was pressed to service in the lagging days of the campaign.
Oh, and I'm sure you know Hillary. (btw-her remarks on Al Jazeera news vs. US news were a refreshing change from her usual stay-vague-enough-to accrue- power MO.)
Once upon a time, I used to rail about women using the c-word in reference to other women. Noted also, that it has been discussed at this particular website from time to time.
Lately I have been finding myself in the position to use the c-word against certain women, both on the "public stage", and in real life. Because I feel the only way I can adequately express my feelings towards these women is to violate my own standards.
