To those of you in Wisconsin, the eyes of the nation are upon you as fight off Governor Scooter and his ham fisted, union busting, great leap backwards.
On a personal note , I have a brother and sister in-law who have worked for the state of Wisconsin for a total of about 45 years between them. I am damn proud of both of them, they both work their tails off. So please keep up the fight.
I think that I speak for many in Kosland when, I say that I admire your courage and wish that I could offer more than just encouragement. I would love help out more and offer some direct support instead of kind words.
If there are people in Wisconsin who are more on the scene please fill us in more on what we around the rest of the country can do. Maybe we can start on some details how the recall efforts are going and how can we help.
This is what I have picked up so far.
In order to recall Gov. Scooter it would take 500,000 signatures on a recall petition. Basically, he would be safe until January 2012.
More likely is that 8 Republican State Senators could be recalled immediately.
The list that I have is:
Sen. Robert Cowles (Greenbay)
Sen. Alberta Darling (River Hills)
Sen. Shelia Harsdorf (River Falls)
Sen. Luther Olsen (Ripon)
Sen. Randy Hopper (Fond Du Lac)
Sen. Glen Grothman (West Bend)
Sen. Mary Lazich (New Berlin)
Sen. Dan Kapenke (Lacrosse)
It is also my understanding that realistically that the magic number here is 3. That if any three of these could be recalled the balance of power in the senate would tip back to the Democrats.
Here some questions I have.
How close to reality do I have it?
What am I missing?
I am guessing that getting 1/2 signatures to recall Walker would not be hard to get. The part would be closing the deal and recalling him?
Who are the most vulerable of the Republican state Senators to immediate recall?
Are there any efforts going on to recall Republicans in the assembly? If so what is the magic number there? (I am guessing it is much higher than the senate)
Most important who are the organizations that spearheading any of this?
What are their needs?
Where can we contribute?
What can the rest of us do to help out?
Please tell us, I think their are many that want to help out.
You have millions around tha nation cheering for you. On a personal note, I attended a huge rally, at the Minnesota capital a few weeks ago. I tried to get the crowd going by singing "On Wisconsin". Unfortunately, I did not know nor did anyone there know the words. So although the song was not there the support was.
Keep up fighting the good fight and keep us posted.
ON WISCONSIN!!!
