After Joanneleon created the Liveblog Group shortly after the transfer to DK4, Tomtech joined the group with the hope that it could be used for future short term or initial Live Blogging events.

Tomtech initially developed a system where multiple templates are always available from this, the original Liveblog sock puppet. Those templates have the instructions for live blogging which have been developed by the community over the last few years. The templates also have instructions to help new posters create live blogs.

Cedwyn, the original Liveblog account manager, was very helpful in developing this system.

It is time to see how the greater community feels about this system.

Live Blog Procedures for BlogAdmins:

All the original and core members of the Liveblog Group should be upgraded to BlogAdmin status in order to add those who are interested in posting and editing diaries during liveblog events can be quickly added to the Liveblog Group and upgraded to BlogEditors.

Liveblog BlogAdmins will have the Liveblog account password so they can post new templates for use by the liveblog events temporary BlogEditors.

All of the Liveblog Group's members are free to add content to the current diary.

When new Motherships and Shuttlepod Diaries are posted the editor posting the diary should copy the content from the previous diary of the same type into an available template in the Liveblog Group's Queue. You are free to cull dead links or outdated content. DO NOT EDIT PAST DIARIES. They are the archives.

Template Instructions:

Above the Fold:
If you are starting a new mothership, feel free to use this section as needed to announce the purpose of the Mothership.

If this is a subsequent Mothership or Shuttlepod diary, you should open the previous Mothership or Shuttlepod diary for editing and copy its code and paste it here. BE SURE AND MAKE ANY EDITS YOU FEEL ARE NECESSARY TO KEEP THE DIARY CURRENT.

Be sure and add the tags from the previous diary.

(First Mothership only and all Shuttlepods) Add an initial comment with the subject: "Transcriptions, News, or Direct Quotes only"

Add a comment to the diary, as a personal Tip Jar, prior to publication. That Tip Jar will be used to volunteer for posting the next diary.

If this is the last template available send a message to the Liveblog Group here (opens in a new tab/window) asking a BlogAdmin to add new templates.

If this is a long term effort, consider creating a separate group devoted to continuing the series as the Gulf Watchers and the Eyes on Egypt and the Region groups did.

Remove these instructions.

(Mothership Section)

This is liveblogging, not Vietnam...there are Rules!

Please Recommend ONLY this Diary - This is the Mothership

No pictures - not a one and yes; this includes you.

New shuttlepod diaries usually pop up roughly when the comments break 300. The second diary, immediately following the Mothership, will post somewhere after 250 comments.

If you wish to be added as a temporary BlogEditor send a message to the Liveblog Group here (opens in a new tab/window).

If you are a Liveblog Group BlogEditor or BlogAdmin and want to post the next Mothership or Shuttlepod post a reply to the tip jar.

List of Admonitions for Shuttlepod diaries

1.    Please do not rec this diary - the current Mothership is the only one to rec.

2.    No pictures - not a one and yes; this includes you.

3.    Please reply to the tip jar only with transcriptions, news, or direct quote kinds of comments.  This gives time-constrained users a chance to keep up without wading through the entire diary.  General discussion and fun happen after the second tip jar.

Tagging tips - Search For Tags - Browse For Tags

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

You can add a private note to this diary when hotlisting it:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from your hotlist?
Are you sure you want to remove your recommendation? You can only recommend a diary once, so you will not be able to re-recommend it afterwards.
Rescue this diary, and add a note:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary from Rescue?
Choose where to republish this diary. The diary will be added to the queue for that group. Publish it from the queue to make it appear.

You must be a member of a group to use this feature.

Add a quick update to your diary without changing the diary itself:
Are you sure you want to remove this diary?
(The diary will be removed from the site and returned to your drafts for further editing.)
(The diary will be removed.)
Are you sure you want to save these changes to the published diary?
