Granny Diaries / Pilot Development
Still got my pay. Kinda meager though. Not like it was when I started out. Got fixings in the larder for supper and enough for breakfast. Some gas in the car too if I need the hospital. Now I see my neighbor leaving and he left a sign that it ain't his no more. Sure seems dusty from the front porch. Storm a coming?
The Senator came a knocking at the door. Seems it's time to preach that election coming up and he's a Democrat needing to win against the elephants that stomp the grazing fields. Gave him a penny. That's enough for what he do for us.
Flags looking a tad bit worn. Guess I shouldn't fly it anymore, cause nobody watches it waving like they used to do, when times were fat. But, I've got enough for the hummingbird feeders this coming summer. Neighbor left me a big bag of sugar when he left. Guess there was sweetness abound where he was heading.
Walked to the third hand store to try and find a new used bucket so I could water the tomater plants this Spring. Old bucket kicked itself with a hole. Handed out a few pennies into the hands of those I passed with their signs and vacant eyes. Wasn't enough, but that's all I got anymore...pennies, instead of dimes. Things ain't too bad, cause I can still share them.
Listened to the news on the radio. Japan is a hurting big time. I know and see the feeling and still have enough in the old heart to feel for them too. Stopped watching the TV. If I want junk to watch, I'll moosey over to the dump and take a whiff.
Lost dog came onto the porch and gave me slobbery greetings. I stroked him and he stroked my heart. We wagged tails together till the sun left till tomorrow. He ate the last half of my sandwich and said goodbye looking for greener pastures. I could have told him the direction he was going lead nowhere. But, now-a-days, all directions lead nowhere.
Tomorrow, I gotta find a smaller belt. This one done went fat cat on me. But, my shoes still fit, so gotta be grateful for that, cause summer is coming and I still have to walk the road I've been given.
