I've been reading, avidly, everything I can find about this catastrophe, partly because my honey is Japanese and we have family living in Tokyo.
But the damage that could never happen, happened. (Repeatedly, Japanese governments PROMISED their citizens that their reactors were completely safe and foolproof)
We now hear of thousands of gallons of sea water being used to cover fuel rods, and to keep spent rods in storage tanks cool enough so they don't boil, evaporate, and start burning and polluting.
Thousands of gallons.
Every hour. Thousands of gallons. Every day, or for as long as those 50 volunteers can deal with such high doses of radiation.
Thousands of gallons, constantly coming into contact with radioactive fuel, with spent fuel, and with the remnants of the reactions that happened after the fuel rods were accidentally uncovered.
Thousands of gallons.
WHERE DOES ALL THAT WATER GO?
