Ass kissing will ensue...Oh sorry that's unfair....hmmm
Take this exchange
“The best ideas come from individuals who see and breathe the issues not just from Washington. We have plenty of highly skilled and capable officials and workers right here that know the best way forward.”
~Rep. James Lankford (R-Okla.)
Smouchies and air kisses all round?
Now who was he praising so highly?
Those enlightened individual who donated to his campaign of course:
Two of the three construction company executives testifying had given Lankford checks of $2,400 or more. The third executive worked for a company whose employees were a source of campaign cash. Also testifying: the leader of an advocacy group who had given $500 to Lankford.
You know it would appear innocuous if this happened but once in a blue moon, however
Burgett had donated thousands of dollars to each of the campaigns of three of the lawmakers at the hearing, Ohio Republicans Jean Schmidt, Steve Stivers and Bob Gibbs.
What's money between friends? Oh...
Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) recently opened a hearing of the oversight panel he chairs by offering “full disclosure” that one of the witnesses was a personal friend, Tom Nassif, president of the Western Growers Association. Issa said for the record that Nassif was a deacon at the church they both attend, but he did not say that Nassif had given $4,800 to his 2010 campaign and a total of $13,800 over the past two decades.
I know none of this is illegal as such, however one wonders if the witnesses are truly independent experts giving the best advice possible to congress.
Pelton has given $4,800 to the 2010 campaign of freshman Rep. Mike Pompeo (R-Kan.), who serves on that panel and represents Wichita, the home of Cessna.
When all said and done it really is just an old boys club with the theme "you scratch my back and I'll buy the scratcher".
Are you are really going to ask them pertinent questions?
Not only that but have the questions and answers been previously agreed upon?
The idea is to have a hearing and a free flow of information, but in reality we just have a show.
No wonder government is regarded in such low esteem, its hard to have respect when governing doesn't actually take place.
