Its raining here in Sacramento, California. After I read reports today that radioactive material from Japan has been detected overhead, I knew it would be coming down in the rain. But since the government and nuclear experts have said that a good soaking in this small amount of radioactive material is no problem, I decided to go singing in the radioactive rain!
A radiation monitor in Sacramento, California, has detected a minuscule amount of radioactive material from the earthquake-stricken nuclear power plant in Japan, the executive director of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty Organization said Friday.
The exact amounts were not available, but Tibor Toth said they were far less that what would be considered harmful to human health.
The test ban organization maintains a network of radiation monitors around the world to look for evidence of nuclear explosions that could violate the prohibition in its namesake treaty against open-air nuclear weapons testing.
The Sacramento monitor detected minute amounts of radionuclides, which Toth said are substances that emit radiation.
I'm singing in the radioactive rain
Just singing in the radioactive rain
What a glorious feelin'
I'm happy again
I'm laughing at radioactive material clouds
So dark up above
The sun's in my heart
And I'm ready for love
