Glenn Beck, the paranoid, loon who thinks that he's a talk show host and a TV commentator, just lost another radio station today.
A poster on a web site known as radio-info.com, posted in the Connecticut section that WDRC AM (1360) is dumping Beck as of Monday, April 4th and replacing him with Mary Jones, who used to have show on the station in the afternoons until management decided to go with a more syndicated approach.
Jones will be doing a 10 am to noon show solo, but will be teamed up with morning fossil Brad Davis starting on the fourth. WDRC and three other AM stations can be heard from Hartford to Waterbury to New Haven. Unless, Buckley Broadcasting, the owners, have reprogrammed her, Jones is not a teabagger loon type. Davis is a conservative who has been in the Hartford market for years and most of the 1970's/1980's has hosted the WDRC morning show when it was a oldies/MOYL station and no one except his friends knew he was a rabid righty.
Sadly, the station is still almost all wing nut, with Ingraham from 12-3, Dan Lovallo, a local libertarian, teabagger type, from 3-6, Steve Malzberg from 6-9 and Weiner "racist" Savage from 9-12.
WDRC AM and its sister stations, go to battle (and lose-last ratings book- 0.6 rating) against WTIC radio, a legacy station in this country and its bagger lineup of Ray Stephens, (not all that bad), Jim Vicevich, another libertarian-buffoon type from 9-12, Limbaugh from 12-3, our ex-felon governor John Rowland and a far right preacher named Wil Marotti, who thinks that all Dems are communists from 3-6. From 6-10, WTIC airs sports talk and with either UCONN sports or the Red Sox, airs Clark Howard. After the 10 pm news, it's Hannity on delay.
As you can see, Hartford area radio is the absolute dregs. There is a station in Springfield, close enough to where I live that airs Miller, Hartmann and Rhodes, but is a daytimer only, so once the sun sets, the station goes off the air.
With four full-time foreign language stations and four either part-time or full time religious stations, the diversity in the Hartford market sucks. If anybody has a few thousand to spend and to paraphrase Kenny Loggins "Please come to Hartford" to save radio around here. Please!!!
