I've just made my first calls for Joanne Kloppenburg (background on this EXTREMELY important upcoming election here). I've done a lot of this kind of stuff over the decades, and this is about the easiest, most painless phone canvass I've ever used. Seems like the list is a good one: people are home and generally supportive. The worst response I got this evening was one very polite "undecided." The guy seemed entirely amenable to checking out Joanne's website for more information.
I hope that if you live in Wisconsin you'll consider making some calls, too -- THIS WEEK (the election's only a week away). Again IF you're from Wisconsin (my personal bias, I guess; I'd be opposed to out-of-staters doing this) why don't you check out the most congenial setup on Kloppenburg's site. I'll bet you'll be as impressed as I am with the setup's usability and simplicity.
We really need to help Joanne Kloppenburg beat David Prosser -- Scott Walker's rubber stamp in-waiting. As one very impressive citizen in my all-time favorite TV ad says, "This is Republican class warfare -- an attack on the middle class. This is a fight we need to win."
