I can't seem to get over this hypocritical diary.
President Obama said thislast night (full transcript here):
To brush aside America's responsibility as a leader and — more profoundly — our responsibilities to our fellow human beings under such circumstances would have been a betrayal of who we are. Some nations may be able to turn a blind eye to atrocities in other countries. The United States of America is different. And as President, I refused to wait for the images of slaughter and mass graves before taking action.
...and all hell has broken lose because the assertion being made is that we have "45,000 Americans we lose every year, because our government continues to see healthcare as a privilege not a right".
Really?
oh wait, this is the punch line from the diary:
We Americans are righteously told by the president that we don't turn a blind eye on atrocities in other countries. But ask the Americans that I met at Free Clinics across the length and breadth of the nation, if our country has turned a very blind eye on them and this uniquely American atrocity.
How can one be so hypocritical and pretend to be advocating for the 45,000 Americans we lose every year because they don't have Health Care Insurance when the same critics were trying to "KILL THE BILL" crapping all over the Health Care Reform bill that would allow 30 million people gain access to Health Insurance not to mention the 20 million American households that will qualify for subsidized insurance.
It is one thing to fight for the Public Option. I was for Public Option but after it was pretty clear that we did not have the vote in the Senate via Reconciliation, there was no other option but support the HCR bill without any reservation while some holier than thou frastratis were non stop trying anything they could to Kill The Bill while getting paid by Jane Hamsher's FDL to sabotage the HCR Bill. Not to mention the lies and disingenuousness of these Top 10 Reasons to Kill Senate Health Care Bill these same people were spreading where Ezra Klein had to even come in to refutes Jane Hamsher's 10 reasons to kill health care lies.
Oh wait, these are the same folks who stated, they don't know if they will remain with Democrats if Democrats fail implementing the Public Option and later claimed that they are more demoralized and angry today than during the eight years of George Bush.
This is the fucking hypocrisy and what I think is so disingenuous by some who criticize the Libyan intervention as if the President does not care for Americans. The President cares for Americans and with the cards he was dealt, he was able to do a lot more than anyone past President had done in half a century if not ever.
However, imagine these same critics had wanted to continue depriving 20,000,000 American household that will qualify for subsidized insurance by KILLING THE HEALTH CARE REFORM BILL, not to mention they had wanted to stop benefits that will not deny access to insurance to children with pre-existing condition, gives adults up to age 26 the ability to stay on their parents’ health plans, allows free preventive care, makes it illegal to rescinding coverage, eliminates lifetime limits on insurance coverage, restricts annual limits on insurance coverage, allows more options to appeal coverage decisions, provides $5 billion in immediate federal support to affordable Coverage for the Uninsured with Pre-existing Conditions, allocates $10 billion investment in Community Health Centers, creates immediate access to re-insurance for employer health plans providing coverage for early retirees and benefit that contributes to cutting prescription drug costs for the nation’s seniors to reduce the size of the "donut hole" in the Medicare (Part D) Drug plan.
Yep, these were what they wanted to KILL. These are the things President Obama was able to implement to help Americans.
These are what HCR bill does today that the same critics who claim to be so concerned for Americans were trying to KILL. I would say "Behold the hypocrisy" indeed when the same folks use Libya to score a dense political point with false equivalence, the intervention in Libya, a humanitarian cause and the lack of health care insurance while pretending to not want to see that we have made huge progress in improving access to Health Care Insurance.
Well, what can I say, the holier than thou is always holier than thou. I sometime wonder honestly if , some people have not already made up their mind that they don't want to remain with Democrats.
Wanna hear what Erick has to say...
Sorry, I don't have transcript.
