The Inoculation Project: Math & Science in Red State Schools
Solid science education is the best inoculation against ignorance.
The objective of this weekly project is to combat the anti-science push in conservative America by providing direct funding each week to math and science projects in red state classrooms.
Fortunately, a conduit organization for achieving this direct funding already exists: DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org allows you to make direct contributions to specific classroom projects (all vetted), resulting in tremendous and immediate impacts from small dollar donations.
Each week we focus on funding a single small-dollar project in a traditionally red state classroom. These are projects whose funding requests are expiring within the next week. If the projects are not funded by their expiration date, they die.

Teacher's Comments:
My Students
Help us learn about life cycles by watching living organisms grow and change in our classroom! We will be teaching about life cycles of organisms next semester and hope our children will be able to experience these life cycles first hand in our classroom.
I have two preschool classes (one AM and one PM) that consist of three, four and five year-olds. All of my students meet the criteria to be labeled as an at-risk student by the state (e.g., live in poverty, English is not their first language, family has been referred to SRS, has an identified disability, etc.). All of our seven classrooms in our school are early childhood classrooms and our goal is to prepare these students with the skills and knowledge to be ready to learn when they walk into their kindergarten classrooms in the fall.
My Project
By using these materials in my classroom, my students will be able to experience first hand how a living organism changes and grows in the life cycle. These materials will create an authentic learning experience for all my students. In addition to looking at pictures in books, my students will have an actual live organism moving through the life cycle in their classroom. I hope to have my students record what they see throughout the organisms’ life cycle in their journals, while referring back to non-fiction books of illustrations of the different stages of the life cycle.
These materials will help my students to have an authentic learning experience in our classroom. They will be excited about learning about the life cycles and anticipate watching the organism change and grow everyday at school.
Please consider rescuing this project by making a small donation to it. Small dollars make a big difference.

Good News
Last week's project, Sink or Swim Time in Aquatic Science, got rescued! This teacher hasn't posted a note yet, but we have more good news! Last week's bonus project, Science Fair Projects, also got a big boost up from Kossacks, and was successfully funded!
Here's a note from that teacher:
I am so excited to share your generous donation with my students. We have been talking about the science fair for a few weeks now. Many of the students have started the process and in a few weeks we will be putting them together for others to observe. I feel very fortunate for your support. In the 5 years that I have been teaching at this school, I have had a winner from my classroom. I know that these students will be excited to receive some real project boards to show off their hard work.
I would like to express my deepest gratitude towards each of you for making this project come to life. I will post photos of their boards after the fair. Thanks again!
With gratitude,
Ms. R.
