Welcome to Press the Face, a Sunday-morning talk show liveblog where you can respond to the Sunday talks with your opinions, support, refutations, or ravings. The larger goal is to provide meaningful accounts of the the shows for those who are unable to watch them, but it's also an opportunity to share our thoughts in real time as armchair spectators of the sport of political discussion.
Ivory Coast. Japan. Libya. Israel. Each of these names raises images of death, fear, and political uncertainty. Each of these nations is struggling with desperate circumstances that have consequences for the entire world. Each of these cultures stands on the brink of tremendous change that could redefine what their respective peoples think of as their world. And what happens right here in the good ol' U. S. of A? "Pastor" Terry Jones of Gainesville, Fla., just can't stand that anyone else in the world has some attention, so he burns a Koran. Claiming that he receives inspiration not from his own religion's holy book but from the movie "Braveheart," this man chose to perform an act that has directly resulted in the deaths of innocent people. How does he feel about the fact that there is blood on his hands? "Emotionally, it's not all that easy. People have tried to make us responsible for the people who are killed. It's unfair and somewhat damaging," quoth he. Way to burnish Christianity's rep, "Pastor." Hope you're enjoying your moment in the spotlight.
