Congressman Hal Rogers, 5th Congressional District of Kentucky, Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, has introduced another temporary funding measure – known as a Continuing Resolution (CR) – to prevent a government shutdown for an additional week while cutting a total of $12 billion in discretionary spending. The measure also includes funding for the Department of Defense for the remainder of the current fiscal year.

Republicans are once again playing their weekly shell game with the federal budget. Rogers has sneakily included full funding for the Defense Department for the rest of this fiscal year, through September, while hanging out to dry the rest of America.
This totally sucks a major one. Austerity and starvation for everyone but the big fat defense contractors.
