We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at TopComments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But we hope they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.
Please come in and make yourself at home! Join us beneath the fold...
Not that I'm actually stretching tonight, at least not physically. No, I'm stretching for a topic, something that might have vague stirrings of cleverness or wit or interest.
The date wasn't much help. It isn't even sequential, unless you pretend it's base five, in which case 4/10/11 would translate into 4/5/6 with base 7 and up. It's some sort of sequence, but not one that's likely to impress. Tomorrow (or a couple of hours from now, if you're on the east coast), is 4/11/11, or 11/4/11 in Europe, which is palindromic in nature if you're there and not here.
Rather than attempt any further stretching, I think I'll turn you over to tonight's top comments, and let you enjoy the rest of your evening. And then have the sweetest of dreams…

I also owe a debt to those people who took the time to submit comments that deserved recognition to Top Comments mailbox in time for the 9:30pm Eastern Time deadline. The address of our mailbox for top comments submissions remains:
TopComments AT gmail DOT com
(change " AT " to "@" and " DOT " to ".")
Anyone can send great comments to our address. Be sure to include the direct link to a comment—the URL—which is available from that comment's date/time; we need that to find your choice. Please always include your Daily Kos user name in the body of your message, so we can credit you properly. If you send a writeup with the link, we are able to include that, too, though we reserve the right to edit.
From Dragon5616:
Gooserock makes an unusual claim in JekyllnHyde's diary If You Could Go Back in Time..., and decembersue responds with a sensible request.
From NWTerriD:
Top comment by sayitaintso asking that we all stop cooperating in the corruption of the word "reform," from catullus's diary about Obama's plans for entitlement programs in the upcoming budget wars.
From bronte17:
litho shares a cool story from back in 1988, when Amnesty International held a concert for democracy in Chile right after Pinochet lost, in the This Helps... diary from Laurence Lewis earlier today.
And from the outstanding diary series Midnight Oil: Sunday Train comes this comment by Hoghead99 on his employer's use of "fuel conservation" in Sunday Train: Oil Addiction is a Political Choice, not a Necessity by BruceMcF. (Note that his employer—a major carrier—uses "the equivalent of an Olympic-sized pool every four hours..." in gasoline. So much for "conservation.")
From pico:
GussieFN has a great setup badly in need of a punchline…
From sardonyx (your sleepy Sunday diarist):
In today's Nurse Kelley Sez: it really is that important, about hospital staffing and caring for yourself at a hospital, catly was a hospital nurse and comments on changes in the field.
StellaRay writes about being progressive and a pragmatist, while facing the 2012 election.
blindyone identifies our real political enemies.

A reminder: Top mojo will return once we figure out how to strongarm convince Comment Search to give us exactly what we need in a form that we can use. Which is more difficult and requires more hand-editing than it should be (or used to be).
