Press Event, Tuesday, April 12 10 am, Wando High and Laurel Hill Elementary School
Mount Pleasant, SC- Math and Science Students from Wando High School will travel to Laurel Hill Elementary School in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina on Tuesday, April 12 at 10 am to present the first sessions in a community wide transit education to support rollout of the new CARTA East Cooper Route system.
The Students will leave Wando at 10 am and begin their first presentation at Laurel Hill. Media will have opportunities to video record educational sessions and an inside the bus lookaround at the school using one of the CARTA buses which will be running on the new routes.
Laurel Hill is one of three schools in Park West which will be served by the new, extended #40 route which will begin running with special service to the Sunday, April 17, Blessing of the Fleet at Mount Pleasant Waterfront Memorial Park, the new system’s official rollout event.
The new 40 Route will also provide hourly public transit bus service to Wando High School for the first time in its 37 year history. The new CARTA routes also serve Moultrie Middle School, Laing Middle School, James B. Edwards Elementary, Belle Hall Elementary, East Cooper Montessori Charter, Palmetto Christian Academy and the University School of the Lowcountry with hourly after school service which will enable after school sports, club activity and tutoring for students who formerly had not ride home.
