I'm pretty sure that Team Romney would have been happier with Fox's coverage of Mitt's big announcement if Shep Smith hadn't listed RomneyCare and religion as two of the big things you need to know about his presidential campaign:
Mitt Romney is running for President. Whooo. ... You know Mitt Romney, he was up there in Massachussets, he started the Massachussets health care plan that everybody’s attacking him for now because the rest of the country has one so much like it. He’s had a hard time with that. He’s Mormon, so that’s going to be an issue, just like religion always gets in the way of something.
Romney is reusing
this Kerry-Edwards slogan
Of course, Mitt's not exactly a victim here. In what could only be called exquisite timing, Romney is announcing his bid on the eve of RomneyCare's fifth birthday, an anniversary that has inspired attacks from conservatives who blame him for President Obama's health care reform plan. Talk about a self-inflicted wound!
And to rub a little salt in it, Romney's rollout slogan—"Believe in America"—is apparently the exact same one used by John Kerry as he toured the country in the summer of 2004.
Welcome to the race, Mitt.
