This is my debut on Dkos and I would like to make a suggestion to those who can still afford to take a vacation this year. Attend a local protest or a march. If that is not an option, pay a visit to a labor history museum. I have plans to visit Wisconsin soon to research my ancestry and hopefully attend a protest or two. While planning this trip, I started thinking about the local businesses who would probably increase their appreciation of the tourists dollars in this time of austerity. If they see enough self-identifying tourists in the midst of the native protesters, perhaps they will rethink who they want to support in the coming elections. This thought inspired me to make a "Tourists for Justice" sign just in case the appropriate occasion presents itself. If you like the idea and would like to join in on the fun, I encourage you to be playful with the tourist theme. Above is a simple idea that best expresses my style. I invite your creative feedback. What would your sign look like? Below is a list of rally schedules and museums on the internet.
National Events
We Are One
HANDS ACROSS THE SAND
Workers World
Irregular Times
United for Peace and Justice
ANSWER Coalition
Solidarity For Strong American Unions Rallies on Facebook
A Few State Localized Calenders
This is What Democracy Looks Like in Wisconsin
“Stand Up for Hoosiers” rallies
San Francisco Bay Area
BTW: In running a search on Google, I found very few hits for up-to-date Calendars and Schedules for protesting events. Maybe due to the fact that these events are not planned very far in advance. I think there is a need for a more centralized organization of public rallies and events but considering the endeavor in maintaining a current calender could be like herding cats.

Furthermore, if you want to learn more about the animals that share this planet with us (especially if you need a reminder of what we stand to lose with the obsession with oil and nuclear power) you can search by state at the Association of Zoos and Aquariums website.
