CA-Guv Jerry Brown just announced he will sign a landmark law making the state the leading renewable energy market in the country.
His Facebook status from 20 mins ago:
Today I will sign the strongest renewable energy standards law in the US, creating more jobs and clean energy in CA.
At a time when Clean Air laws are under attack nationwide, it is good to see the states defy the intransigent idiocy of the federal gov't and show leadership on this critical issue.

Under the bill, California utilities and other power providers would have until the end of 2020 to draw 33 percent of their power from solar panels, windmills, landfill gases, small hydroelectric plants and other renewable sources.
Supporters said the increase from the current 20 percent target will reassure investors that demand for renewable energy will grow, fueling a field that has been one of the few growth spots for California's economy during the recession.
Of course, the typical pound-foolish crowd has to chime in.
Critics of the legislation said sticking with traditional energy sources such as coal and natural gas would be cheaper
Cheaper how? By destroying the planet today, we can make our children pay for the damage we wreck? And these same assholes ostensibly care about "saddling our children" with debt and the like.
If they were not lying hypocrites, the cognitive dissonance would cause their heads to explode.
"I know one thing: Being dependent on foreign fossil fuel is not good for our economy, it's not good for our security, and it's not good for our climate," the Democratic governor told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. "We have to be bold."
Kudos to Gov. Brown and the CA legislature ramming this thru despite the baffling need for a supermajority to pass laws in this state.
Not sure about you, but I needed some good news today.
