Sometimes I really, really love being a Democrat.
Today, the Dems in the House pulled what may have been the most delightful -- and instructive -- scam on the Rethugs (I will stop calling them that when GOP drops the "Democrat Party" nonsense.)
After sitting through pontification after pontification about a GOP proposal MORE conservative than Ryan's, the Dems jumped off the plane and pulled the ripcord. And suddenly, the Repubs had to either knock the proposal down or vote for it.
Guess what they did?
This was just too slick to be believed.
The thugs had their little "we are so conservative" moment, where there was a vote for an amendment approving the budget of the Republican Study Committee. The proposal was just a tad to the right of Attila the Hun, if Mr. Hun was a big "rich deserve tax cuts" advocate. The idea, of course, was throw even more buckets of cash into the yachts of the wealthy by picking the pockets of the dead impoverished who had been waiting in line for the free clinic.
The usual was on the way -- dems vote against, alongside the moderate thugs. Then the conservatives go out on the campaign trail and say "so and so voted for a 50 gazillioon dollar tax increase!" (since voting against a tax cut for the wealthy is, in their twisted world, a tax increase.)
Then -- shabam! The dems pulled the most delightful trick of all time: They made the thugs vote on their own proposal.
EVERY SINGLE DEM switched their votes from "no" to "present."
This means, no yes no no. Only those not voting present would have their voices heard on this proposal.
So, was the thug response "goody goody, now we can do what we have called for!" No, it was more on the scale of "AHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Chaos ensued as the thug leadership ran everywhere trying to reverse the votes. In the end, they succeeded -- thus showing themselves to be the unmitigated hypocrites that they are -- in voting down the "Attila Reform Act of 1437" -- but barely.
Final vote: 119-136. And 172 dems present.
BWAH-HAHAHAHA
So now, in elections -- hang these bastards with all of it. For everyone who voted in favor, point out the gazillions they wanted to give to the rich and how badly they wanted to hit the middle class and the poor.
Couldn't happen to a nice bunch of lying hypocrites.
