I have made no secret that I am ashamed that my area is represented by a false conservative who wastes money on irresponsible tax cuts for the richest 1 percent while making everyone else pay for them.
I do not know how the Republican-controlled Texas legislature is going to further gerrymander our state. I do, however, know one thing-- the man who currently represents my district (TX-32), Pete Sessions, belongs in the electoral sewer and not casting votes on my behalf.
I realize that Sessions, imposed on our district by Tom DeLay's gerrymandering after George W. Bush was backdoored into the White House by five right-wing Supreme Court justices. I also realize that no one has run an effective campaign against Sessions since he began to represent my area.
But since he has now put himself in a league with the irresponsible and despicable ideas of Paul Ryan, the need couldn't be any better said. My area deserves better than Pete Sessions or any other Republican.
More below.
On Sessions' taxpayer-supported web page, he makes the following statement:
Action taken Thursday to eliminate wasteful government programs and save hundreds of billions of dollars set the stage for House Republicans to advance our fight in saving trillions more for the American people with our budget proposed by House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, “The Path to Prosperity”. On Friday, the House passed our common-sense, responsible budget plan for fiscal year 2012 that cuts $5.8 trillion in wasteful spending, reduces our deficit by $4.4 trillion over the next decade, eliminates $800 billion in tax increases under ObamaCare and creates nearly one million new private-sector jobs.
Does Sessions really think forcing seniors (and soon to be seniors like me) to lose their Medicare so the richest 1 percent can get even deeper tax cuts is "reasonable"? Don't forget, when Sessions talks so joyously about ending what he calls "Obamacare," he is really wanting to do the following:
1. Enable insurance companies to deny coverage to folks due to pre-existing conditions.
2. Continue the "donut hole" where seniors are forced to pay even higher costs for their prescriptions.
3. Enable insurance to deny coverage to folks merely because they get too sick.
Anyone who wants to any of these things and tries to treat efforts to do all of these things as something great shouldn't be representing anyone in Congress.
And does Pete really think folks in his district will ignore what he is really saying when he calls the Ryan plan "reasonable." He is really supporting the gutting of Medicare in favor of a voucher system that really doesn't help seniors but virtually gives the store away to big insurance companies.
For many years, Pete Sessions has misled constituents to believe that he is a fiscally responsible "conservative." His active support of the Ryan plan proves he is a big spender who seemingly rather see seniors and others rot, die, and suffer while giving big tax breaks to the weathiest 1 percent who need them the least.
In writing this, I pray that Pete Sessions and those like him get the strongest possible Democratic oppostion and are sent to total and complete defeat in November 2012.
